Hellripper is a one-man black/speed metal band formed by James McBain and based in the Scottish highlands. With the release of the debut EP ‘The Manifestation of Evil’ at the start of 2015, the band have made their statement clear… Total Mayhem!

2015 and 2016 saw the release of an EP and various splits to positive reviews in the
underground, and the assembly of a live line-up. The band’s debut album ‘Coagulating Darkness’
was released in April 2017, with Metal Hammer crowning Hellripper “Scotland’s King of the
arcane mosh”.

‘The Affair of the Poisons’, the band’s 2nd album was released through Peaceville Records in
2020 – again, to great reviews and led to the band’s first appearance on the US Billboard Charts.
2023 saw the release of Hellripper’s 3rd full-length album, ‘Warlocks Grim & Withered Hags’ – a
record inspired by the darker side of Scottish history and folklore to wide acclaim. Following this,
the band consistently toured over the following couple of years, including appearances at
festivals such as Wacken Open Air and Bloodstock Open Air.

After signing with Century Media Records, ‘Coronach’ was released in March 2026, again
incorporating Scottish themes into their signature blackened speed metal sound. – the title itself is named after a traditional Scottish funeral lament. Hellripper’s largest European headline tour to date followed this, with further live appearances scheduled worldwide throughout 2026 and 2027.
