In 2010, Wyatt Shears and his self-created genre, “Vada Vada”, entered the music scene with Enjoy. This project opened a wide new world of experimental punk to the public. His debut album, Deep Cuts, Vol. 2 (2011-2013), was released in April 2012. Around this same time, The Garden was established with Wyatt as co-creator and his twin brother, Fletcher Shears. Born and raised in Orange County, California, Wyatt and Fletcher grew up listening to SoCal and UK punk. Since then, other genres such as drum and bass and 70s funk have impacted them. Together, these sounds helped inspire the recognizable vibe of both Wyatt’s projects, referred to as “Vada Vada”.

Enjoy on Spotify

Enjoy has since rocketed into the indie scene with over 207,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Wyatt says the popularity from recent years is greatly appreciated. It, however, “didn’t happen overnight” and Wyatt intends to continue to create the music that he likes amongst the growth.

Ashley Clue, from Austin, Texas, is known for her pop-like take on Vada Vada. Since the age of 17, she has been in the music scene starting as a DJ and has made her way into production with her debut song “Icebreaker.” Ashley met Wyatt at South by Southwest where she was working at the bar during The Garden’s set. The two are now the power couple of Vada Vada.

Here are some must-listens from Wyatt and Ashley:
