Scream

Bio

Any movement requires a stellar team. Atlanta’s DJ Scream knows that fact very well. The artist, Hoodrich Entertainment co-founder, mogul, and personality has spent his entire career focusing on ways to assemble the strongest hip-hop collective possible, constantly looking to the underground and beyond for the next wave of talent.

This became his dream at a very young age. With parents who actually met in a record store, Scream seemed destined to pursue music. After watching Juice, he recognized the power of being a DJ and saved up money for his first set of turntables at twelve-years-old. By the time he entered his senior year at college, he became the campus’s hottest DJ, playing nearly four nights a week.

In 2004, he parlayed that momentum into the foundation of Hoodrich Entertainment. A marketing, branding, and management venture co-founded with his business partner and manager Marcos Rippy, the company quickly established itself as a crucial player within the Atlanta music scene.

At the same time, they built Scream’s own brand as a go-to mixtape curator, host, and notable personality. Mixtapes ranged from grassroots career-making campaigns for 2 Chainz and Plies to celebrated projects for Juicy J, Snoop Dogg, Soulja Boy, Gucci Mane, Young Jeezy and many  more. He also hosted his weekly mix show Hoodrich Radio on Sirius XM Hip Hop Nation and Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 FM, playing the likes of Waka Flocka Flame and Future before anybody in the country. Now, Hoodrich Entertainment represents platinum-certified producer DJ Spinz as well as several other hit-makers, in addition to 15 of hip hop’s most notable DJs.

As Scream continued grinding even harder, an unexpected phone call opened up major label doors in 2011.

“One day, Rick Ross called me. He told me he was a fan of my work and my hustle. He urged me to just keep doing what I’m doing. At the time, I thought, ‘How did he get my number?’,” he laughs. “We kept a dialogue going. Then, he asked me to be a part of the MMG team. I was so honored. He gave me the opportunity to put out an album on a major. Ross is an artist and a businessman. With all of his success, he still works harder than anybody. I’m inspired by that. We’re taking everything up a notch now together.”

Scream stays in the public consciousness constantly, keeping his finger on the pulse of what’s hot. He’s toured worldwide and appeared on BET’s 106&Park, MTV’s Rap Fix Live, The Monique Show, and more. XXL, The Source, GQ, Vibe, and others have featured him, while MTV recognized him as one of the “Top DJs of the Year,” as well as being nominated for “DJ Of The Year” at the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards. Still, he feels his journey is far from over and in fact, just beginning.
