Locals Only are the hardest working band you’ve never met. High energy, no bullshit, five-piece pop punk from New York, the rambunctious new group released their self-produced / self-titled debut EP independently on April 28 along with a music video for lead single “You’re Sick”, May 1. Following, the band launched their new record to a sold out Emo Nite LA on May 2, just before the premiering “You’re Sick” via Journey’s TV, in-stores nationwide. The new single also received a notable spotify placement from the Hopeless Records Best of Pop Punk playlist.
Locals went on to volunteer for the 2017 Vans Warped Tour in exchange for food, a bus number and a place to drive their new record. There, the band were tapped to perform on multiple dates and even went on to receive endorsements online from Dani & Fil of Neck Deep, Movements and even Vans Warped Tour.
“ By July, we played our first set of Warped Tour. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the moment production told us we were going to play that day. We got on stage and had the best half hour of our lives. All of the chaos disappeared. Nothing else mattered. “ – Craig Johns Jr, Guitarist / Producer
Following Warped Tour, the band released an inspiring and energetic montage video for “Choke” to showcase their summer of hustle. The video received notable mention from Alt Press, appeared on AP Discover spotify playlist and appeared in Journey’s stores nationwide this November.
After performing stripped versions of their debut release endlessly over the summer of 2017, key writers Joey Scott & Craig Johns Jr. were inspired to peel back rough edges and showcase a softer side to their creativity. On Christmas, New Noise Magazine premiered a stream for Locals Only’s Acoustic EP – which features six stripped down and completely re-imagined acoustic versions of their debut self-titled release. The band premiered a visual for the acoustic rendition of their song “The Loop”, on New Years Day.
Locals Only is currently writing their next release with plans to hit the studio in late Spring.
