Kevin Seconds

Bio

Kevin Seconds has been the lead singer and principal songwriter of seminal American hardcore punk band 7Seconds for over 3 decades now.

“I started in 7Seconds when I was 18, full of anger, energy and drive by utter boredom. I’m 53 now, I am still angry and I still have lots of energy but I’m never bored. Ever”.

In about half of that time, he has also recorded and toured as a solo artist, captivating crowd around the world with his passionate, soulful and intimate performances.

To date, Kevin has released 6 albums internationally and has played and toured with the likes of Elliott Smith, Bob Mould, Exene Cervenka (X), Chuck Ragan (Hot Water Music), Tim Barry (Avail), Johnny Two Bags (Social Distortion) and bands as diverse as Rancid, Lucero, Andrew Jackson Jihad and Bad Brains.

“It’s always an honor to play with people whose bands I’ve loved and have been inspired by but considering that so many of these people are some of the best singer-songwriters on the planet, I consider myself luckier than most to have gotten a chance to play with them”.

Kevin has been called ‘a pop troubadour with a protest singer’s heart’ and his new songs are startlingly catchy and impeccably well-crafted.

“My favorite was by some writer years back who referred to me as ‘a Dunkin Donuts Dylan’. It wasn’t complimentary but I’ll take that one…hahaha.”

His 2014 album, ‘Off Stockton’ features 11 original songs, showcasing to an even greater extent, his unique brand of rootsy, melodic and heartfelt folk music. With Kevin, there is always an edge and urgency that could only be fueled by a lifetime love of punk rock music.  Add pedal steel guitars, strings, Hammond B3 organ and lush, dreamy harmony vocals of Kevin’s wife Allyson and you get one of the loveliest albums made in recent times.

Kevin quickly followed up ‘Off Stockton’ with the release of ’New Years Rulin’s’, his song interpretation of Woody Guthrie’s 33 new years resolutions for the year 1943, a project very near and dear to his heart.

“I’m always moved by everything Woody Guthrie….his voice, his songs, his activism and courage. For years I’ve wanted to do something personal with those sweet little new years resolutions of his. I finally figured out how I could and I’m really psyched and proud of this new record”.

One of the hardest working performers in the underground music community today, 2015 promises to be an another extremely busy year for Kevin as he embarks on more touring to support  both ’Off Stockton’ and ‘New Years Rulin’s’ and his latest project, writing, recording and sharing 400 new and original songs, 1 or more released every single day of 2015.
