James Vickery
Bio
James Vickery’s journey is one of resilience, self-discovery, and passion. Born deaf in one ear due to a cholesteatoma, he nearly lost his life at age eight. A vocal coach, initially brought in to aid his speech, uncovered his remarkable talent. Vickery later shared his story in Louder, a 2021 documentary exploring his identity as a white-passing artist of South African descent.
His COLORS SHOW performance amassed nearly 40 million views, and his debut album, Songs That Make Me Feel, featuring Musiq Soulchild and EarthGang, cemented him as the face of UK R&B. No longer seeking validation, Vickery now fully embraces his artistry. His music is a testament to overcoming adversity, proving he’s an artist with depth, passion, and longevity.
